Men’s Yoga Classes

New Men’s yoga classes from YogaJak are starting Friday, October 9th @ 9:30am!

 
 

Steve is originally from Darlington in the UK, and has been on his yoga journey for 18 years. It has played a big part of my general health and well being ever since.

"​I started Yoga at age 35 because of pain, stiffness and injury. I suffered from a bad back from desk work, sore Achilles heels and knees from running and pain in the hands from Karate. That’s how most of the guys in my classes have come to yoga too. It’s a shame that by the time you convince yourself to try it, you REALLY need it! If only we were more proactive and knew that by DOING yoga in the first place would help PREVENT pain and injury. I’m now 53 and feel the healthiest I’ve been in my life. "

If you’re a guy who comes home from work buzzing, needing to shut off thoughts and the busyness of the day - but don’t know how to, then yoga may just give you the tools that you need.

You see, it’s not about BEING flexible - that’s just a pretty cool result of a regular practice. In a yoga class, you use each pose to create FOCUS. By placing your body in shapes that make you concentrate - like twists and balance poses - you are training your mind to settle on one thing. We typically hold poses for 3-5 breaths, the concentration used with steady breath calms the mind and slows down the thoughts.

Not sure how to do yoga?

Not a problem! Steve will work with everyone individual level of comfort and nothing is taken too seriously. Just give it a go! ​It is exercise that goes a little further than physical with a great group of blokes.

There is no chanting, no singing and we don’t wear lycra!
